William H. Coles

William H. Coles, MD, MS, FACS is a former eye surgeon who now focuses on writing fiction. He has studied with many accomplished authors and attended many conferences and workshops to improve his craft. Coles also created a website storyinliteraryfiction.com, which provides useful materials for writers.

In addition to his writing pursuits, Coles has received recognition for his poetry. He reviewed poetry for the Journal of the American Medical Association for eight years and won an award for his poem Unwed Girl. His poetry has appeared in the Chattahoochee Review and Miscellany.

Coles has achieved success in fiction writing as well. He has been a finalist and semi-finalist for numerous awards, including the William Faulkner Creative Writing Competition and the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction. He has published several books, including novels, story collections, and guides for writers.

Aside from writing, William H. Coles has delved into other creative endeavors. He has produced and recorded audiobooks of his works, made his short stories available for free online reading and download, and even created a podcast where he reads his stories and plays piano in the background.

Throughout his career, Coles has held various prestigious positions in the field of ophthalmology, including Department Chairman at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
