On January 6th, 2021, the Capitol of the United States was attacked in an effort to disrupt the process of certifying the recent Presidential election. As authorities eventually received reinforcements, observers across the country and around the world drew stark contrasts between the way police treated the group invading the Capitol and the way they treated earlier protestors in 2020.
