Albert A. Anderson is an American philosopher and translator. He is known for his work in ethics, aesthetics, and classical philosophy. His book Universal Justice: A Dialectical Approach was published in the Value Inquiry Book Series.
Anderson was professor emeritus of philosophy at Babson College and held leadership positions in the liberal arts and humanities departments. He has also taught at Clark University, Albion College, and the Rhode Island School of Design, where he was chair of the Department of Liberal Arts. His scholarly work has included epistemology, Greek philosophy, and the philosophy of value.
He founded Agora Publications, which specialises in translating and adapting classical philosophical texts into contemporary English. His translations include major works by Plato, Kant, Nietzsche, Hume, and Mill. With his late wife, Lieselotte Anderson, he adapted audio versions of modern philosophical texts. Northwestern University Press published his translation of Mikel Dufrenne's The Phenomenology of Aesthetic Experience.
Anderson played a key role in founding the International Society for Universal Dialogue in 1989 in Warsaw. He has also served on the Society for Philosophy and Technology boards and the Boston Colloquium for Ancient Philosophy and consulted for more than three dozen colleges and universities in the United States.
His most recent work includes Bringing Philosophy to Life, a blog and podcast series published by Saga/Egmont in Denmark. He continues to translate and adapt Plato's dialogues for dramatic performance.
