In one of the most acclaimed and strange novels of recent years, Kazuo Ishiguro imagines the lives of a group of students growing up in a darkly skewered version of contemporary England. Narrated by Kathy, now 31, Never Let Me Go hauntingly dramatises her attempts to come to terms with her childhood at the seemingly idyllic Hailsham School, and with the fate that has always awaited her and her closest friends in the wider world. A story of love, friendship and memory, Never Let Me Go is charged throughout with a sense of the fragility of life.

Bu əsər haqqında düşüncələrim çox qarışıqdı. Onu deyə bilərəm ki, oxuyarkən və xüsusilə, əsər bitdikdən sonra qəlbinizin sızlamaması imkansızdır. İlk başda, sadə bir əsər olduğunu, sadəcə xüsusi internat məktəbində yaşayan uşaqların xatirələrindən bəhs etdiyini düşünmüşdüm. Lakin ortalardan sonlara doğru çox kədərli bir hekayə ilə baş-başa olduğumu anladım. Yazar insanlıq, mərhəmət, qəddarlıq, dostluq və sevgi məsələlərini tamamilə fərqli bir yöndən izah etmişdir❤

I keep thinking about this river somewhere, with the water moving really fast. And these two people in the water, trying to hold onto each other, holding on as hard as they can, but in the end it’s just too much. The current’s too strong. They’ve got to let go, drift apart. That’s how I think it is with us.

What is it? What can it be that thwarts us?”

What I’m saying,” I went on, “is that when we were that age, when we were eleven, say, we really weren’t interested in each other’s poems at all. But remember, someone like Christy? Christy had this great reputation for poetry, and we all looked up to her for it. Even you, Ruth, you didn’t dare boss Christy around. All because we thought she was great at poetry. But we didn’t know a thing about poetry. We didn’t care about it. It’s strange.”
